At Reedsport School District, we are proud to foster a respectful, kind, and professional
community where students, families, and staff work together to support student success.

honor both their rights and their responsibilities.

Family Rights
You have the right to:
- Be treated with respect and professionalism
- Receive clear, timely, and respectful communication
- Access free language assistance services if needed
- Expect privacy and confidentiality of your student’s records
- Know the qualifications of staff supporting your student
- Understand what your student is learning and how progress is assessed
- Be informed about educational opportunities and benefits within the district
- Make informed decisions regarding your student’s participation in programs and services
- Access your student’s educational, behavioral, and assessment records
Family Responsibilities
Families are expected to:
- Treat all staff and students with respect and professionalism
- Recognize and trust the training and expertise of school staff
- Follow school and district rules designed to ensure safety and learning
- Take an active role in your student’s education
- Communicate openly and promptly about concerns or needed changes
- Provide accurate and relevant information about your student’s needs
- Accept outcomes when expectations or policies are not followed
- Maintain updated contact information with the school
- Meet applicable financial and educational obligations

Communication & Feedback
We value open communication and continuous improvement. Families may:
- Share concerns, suggestions, or compliments in person, by phone, or via email
- Follow School Board Policies KL and KL-AR for formal concerns
- Request to speak with teachers, office staff, or administrators

- There will be no retaliation for raising valid concerns
- We are committed to timely and respectful resolution of issues
- We always welcome and appreciate positive feedback

If your family needs support related to your student’s education, please contact us.

- Access to clothing, school supplies, or basic needs

Our Expectations for a Professional Community
- Communication must remain respectful, appropriate, and solution-focused
- Disruptive, abusive, or discriminatory behavior will not be tolerated
- The District reserves the right to set clear expectations and take appropriate action when those expectations are not met

Our school district serves the communities of Reedsport, Winchester Bay, Gardiner and surrounding rural areas. We have a proud tradition of excellence in our two small schools.
