QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicant must hold or qualify for an Oregon Teaching Certificate, with subject area endorsement and grade level authorization.
  • Desire and ability to work with a team of professional educators in a small/rural school.
  • Familiarity with a variety of age appropriate instructional, assessment and classroom management strategies that reflect current research on best practices.
  • Experience working with diverse groups.
  • Familiarity with state standards and curriculum frameworks.
  • Knowledge and experience with differentiated instruction.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations.
  • Ability to effectively manage and supervise students and their work.
  • Ability to direct the work of other staff members.
  • Ability to develop lessons that prepare students for academic and social success.
  • Standard First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.
  • A positive role model for the school/community.

JOB SUMMARY: This job posting is for all Classified Substitutes. Substitutes are variable hour, on-call employees who perform a variety of duties with students and assist teachers and specialists in supporting students with an emphasis in reading, writing, math and/or behavior.

  • Must be able to plan, organize and execute practices
  • Ability to guide and motivate student athletes
  • Monitor safety of all participants and follow safety protocols
  • Develop player fundamentals
  • Supervise student athletes to, at and from events
  • Oversee assistant coaches
  • Communicate with school personnel, student athletes and parents
  • Increase athletic participation in the program
  • Maintain equipment and inventory
  • Coordinate with the athletic director and others for facility usage
  • Knowledge of the sport

Requirements:

  • Must have or be able to obtain a coaching certificate and First Aid/CPR card.

Position is contingent on the State’s guidance providing approval to start the sport program and may be prorated if the program is delayed

Position start datebeginning of 24-25 softball season

Salary Range: One time stipend of $5,377 - $6,693  per Collective Bargaining Agreement

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This not an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, duties or functions associated with the job. Full job description attached in Applitrack.

  • Assists the Principal in the overall administration of the school.
  • Serves as the Principal in the Principal’s absence.
  • Assists in the scheduling of classes and extra-curricular activities.
  • Assists the Principal in the supervision and evaluation of certified and support staff assigned to the school.
  • Assists the Principal in monitoring the instructional program.
  • Coordinators the monitoring and supervision of students in hallways, playgrounds and loading and unloading of buses.
  • Assists with the discipline of students.
  • Consults with, and assists, the schools’ staff, and parents in developing student behavioral expectations.
  • Acts as a resource for staff training around discipline issues.  Assists teachers in classroom management and effective instructional practices.
  • Works with referred students for the purpose of modifying inappropriate behavior and identifies alternative placement for disruptive students.
  • Assists the principal on disciplinary issues related to suspension and expulsion.
  • Assists in developing programs and/or activities to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies. 
  • Assists with the planning and coordinating of school activities and awards programs.
  • Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance. 
  • May assist in developing and monitoring school budget.
  • Assists in monitoring consumables, textbooks, library and capital inventories.
  • Assists with the monitoring and supervision of facilities.
  • Ensure effective communication between the building administrative team, staff, parents and the community.
  • Represent the school within the community forums for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issues related to school environment.
  • Keep abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing educational issues of mutual interest with other professionals in the field.
  • Assist with making personnel recommendations regarding the employment and continued employment of all certified and classified staff within the building in accordance with board policy, and state and federal regulations.
  • Participate in administrative meetings, negotiation meetings and other such meetings as required or appropriate.
  • Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Board or Administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid Oregon administrative license or the ability to obtain one.
  • A Master’s Degree in educational administration or in education with emphasis in curriculum and instruction.
  • Working knowledge of current theory, research, and effective practices in the areas of instruction, staff development, student assessment, program evaluation, and school improvement. 
  • Successful supervisory experience; personnel management; financial management; budget preparation and management.
